Although it is not yet mentioned on the ‘New features’ page, Google have added a ‘report phishing’ link to gmail. It’s under the more options link when viewing an email.
I forgot to mention a while ago that they started marking emails with from addresses at gmail.com, but which were not sent through gmail with the following.
Warning: This message may not be from whom it claims to be. Beware of following any links in it or of providing the sender with any personal information.
And then they don’t make all the links in the email clickable anyway!
Unfortunately, this one is applied too rigorously for me, or at least the rules are too simple minded. For exampe, anything on a mailing list from someone with a gmail account gets flagged thus.

hey mike.
tell me, have you heard of some virus that is going around from gmail accounts? i received one into my outlook this morning that said it was “from” my gmail address.
have you heard about this?
November 9th, 2004 at 16:17
Hi Tank,
That sounds like standard virus behaviour in that it emails itself from someone else’s mail box and fakes random ‘from’ addresses from their address book. It usually means that someone with the virus has your gmail address in their outlook address book.
I get virus emails to me from me all the time. Of course, I don’t have any viruses. I don’t even use windows let alone outlook at the moment and I only send email through the web.
So don’t worry too much, your gmail account is clean from viruses.
The down side is that other people will be receiving those viruses supposedly from you and you will get barred from some places and bounces from others

Well done, Tank. I’m glad you got it working.
Let me know if you want me to look at your threaded comments and people add-ins. I could probably get them working again.
Congrats on the Firefox too. It is soooo much better than Internet Exploder.
