75 And Still Going Strong

by @ 23:56. Filed under

It was my Mum’s birthday today. Happy 75th Birthday Mum!
Wow! 75 years is a long time. I think she was most pleased about getting her free TV licence!

Wait, what? TV Licenses? I didn’t even know such a thing existed! Free TV for all, here in NZ…

Happy B’day to your mum, in any case :)

  2. mike Says:

    Hi Ben,
Yeah, here in the UK the TV Licence helps to fund the BBC.

  3. DaniCast Says:

Hi, Mike! I just stoped by to inform you that I am using your journalized theme (sand version) with some little modifications at my personal website. I hope you find a minute to stop by there and take a look. Thank you for sharing your themes, they are great! :)

  4. Nonsense Nation Says:

I like the idea of tying the tax directly to the device. You can see directly where your taxes go. I just pay thousands into a “general fund” that Congress blows most of. I haven’t a clue where most of it goes.

  5. Drama Queen Says:

    I don’t know what I’d do if I had to pay a T.V. tax - I feel kinda bad now b/c I actually like BBC programming :)

Happy b-day to your mum - hopefully she has many more in her.

  7. Estara Says:

In Germany there is no option of not paying the tv license. So if you were envious of the New Zealanders you can at least now feel superior to us ;) - not to mention the fact that the BBC is one of the best tv programs in the world, to my mind.

  8. Abdul Mueid Says:

Over here in Mozambique, all the TV’s bigger than a certain size (74cm i think) need a license. Sounds dumb but yeah… this is Mozambique :P

  9. Chaotic Harmony Says:

Well, I was just browsing, and saw that another user had thanked you for the use of your theme - which seems like a nice gesture. I’ve used your theme too, heavily modified, and I thank you very much for it :)

In Ireland, TV licencing only applies to Irish channels, but we can pick up UK channels too and we don’t have to pay for them :P Ha ha!
