WordPress 0.7 Released!

The first (non-beta) version of WordPress has been released! The official announcement is on the WordPress Development blog.

* Texturize – So good it’ll make your quotes curl.
* WordPress Links – A link manager with everything you’d expect, from Weblogs.com support to a handy bookmarklet. Manage as many blogrolls as you like, and have complete control over their display.
* XHTML 1.1 – WordPress is compliant with XHTML standards up to 1.1, though by default it sends a 1.0 document type to avoid compatibility issues.
* Highly Intelligent Line Breaks – Occasionally called “nl2br on steroids,” this brand new function adds line breaks except where there is already a block level tag or another line break.
* New Administration Interface – We’ve made it as simple as possible, and no more. Everything has been restructured from the ground up in a fully compliant XHTML/CSS interface.
* Manual Excerpts – This allows you to hand craft summaries of your posts to appear in your RSS feed and other places.
* New Default Templates – Again we’ve streamlined theses with the latest in simple, easy-to-understand standard XHTML and CSS. And not a CSS hack in sight.
* Plus numerous behind the scenes code clean-ups, making this release faster and more stable than ever.

Back To Work ‘n’ Stuff

It was back to work today after the long weekend. Not too bad. Some catch up after the frantic pace (and multiple releases) from last week. Meetings and such, new old projects kicking off (again), brain storming a new (potential) project.
I actually managed to commit some WordPress changes tonight! I still haven’t uploaded the new pictures to the Gallery. I also turned my blogsnob advert back on (oops! How long has that been turned off?)

Busy, Busy, Busy

I’ve had quite a few really busy days at work recently. I seem to be constantly switching from one thing to another. What with releases, branch merges, more releases, big meetings, production problems, etc. I haven’t worked on my scheduled project for more than about half a day in the last week!
I’ve also been busy with projects at home too: I’ve designed and set up Jan’s web site, helped Thom get back up and running, spent time investigating CMS applications, answered a hundred emails and forum questions (or so it seems), and actually managed to spend some time on WordPress development!
Inbetween times, I’ve managed to post on here once in a while.

Still to do: More WordPress development, find a CMS Jan and I can use, more forum answers, update b2 links, think of a new layout and design for this site, help Steve move to a new hosting server, read a dozen books, get back into cycling, give up smoking, encourage Jamie to write more on her blog, upgrade the PC in the kitchen, and probably a dozen more things I’ve temporarily forgotten!
