All Ready for the Holiday

We’re pretty much ready to go now. Tickets? Passports? Money? Check!
Suitcases packed, hand luggage mostly packed. Jamie’s in bed but not asleep (way too excited), I think Jan’s having a relax in the bath or something, and I’m sat in front of my PC (no change there then). Jan and I won’t be going to sleep tonight, not with having to leave for the airport at 4am. We are hoping that Jamie will get a few hours though.
Steve has very kindly offered to drive us to the airport. We are hoping to manage to get decent seats by being there early enough. We shall see.

If I don’t manage to blog again before I go. See y’all in a week!

Later days,
Mike

Google Catalogues

I’ve just found out about Google Catalogs.
Really interesting. They’ve scanned, OCR-ed and catalogued (pun intended) thousands of mail order catalogues. All searchable.

Try a search. It highlights your search term on the catalogue pages. Click on the image and you zoom into the scanned page with the item you searched for. At the bottom are contact details; web site, phone number, etc.

What an amazing idea!

Holiday Woes

Well it’s less than 60 hours until we fly out for our holiday in Turkey AND WE STILL HAVEN’T GOT THE TICKETS! We ordered the tickets through an on line company called SkyDeals.co.uk. I DO NOT recommend them to anyone. I think we have been treated shoddily. The latest, after waiting on the phone for more than 15 minutes and being subjected to adverts for other services, is that they say the tickets were sent first class post on Monday and we should have got them today. But they have used the wrong post code so it may be tomorrow! In the meantime I’ve persuaded them to allow us to pick up the tickets at the airport in case they don’t come tomorrow.
At least I managed to find out with which airline we are flying and from which terminal. It does also mean that we will have to be at the airport for about 4am!

The weather had better be good after all this!
