With any luck, I have just man­aged to speed up the time it takes to gen­er­ate my blog page. It should now be almost three times faster than before. I man­aged to nar­row it down to the ‘posts_nav_link()’ func­tion which gave the ‘older posts’/‘newer posts’ links at the top and bot­tom of the page. These were tak­ing as long to execute as the main blog loop (in fact they run almost the same data­base query). So for now they have been removed, which means you must use the archives, cal­en­dar, or cat­egor­ies links to nav­ig­ate to the older posts.

I couldn’t post here last night, as my NTL broad­band con­nec­tion stopped work­ing around 10:30 in the even­ing, and still hadn’t come back on this morn­ing.

Well, I finally did it. Journ­al­ized is now run­ning on WordPress! I took a long time about it. Mainly because of my b2 spe­cific hacks I didn’t wish to lose. I have them all in WordPress now. Yes, all of them. And no, they are not all in the offi­cial code yet.
I feel like per­haps I can move on now. Start catch­ing up with things which have lagged behind (like about 10 book reviews!).

I have to brag about this! If you do a google search for mike this site comes out at num­ber 14 of about 33 mil­lion. That’s pretty good ego surf­ing
Of course matt at num­ber 7 would know all about that!
